SATYAM BPO'S CEO RESIGNS

  • NEW DELHI/HYDERABAD: Satyam BPO CEO Venkatesh Roddam has put in his papers. His resignation comes at a time when the overall IT-BPO industry is in the throes of a slowdown due to global turmoil in the US.

  • Roddam’s exit though has not created a leadership vacuum as the company has already identified his successor who will come on board in a couple of months.

  • “Venkatesh Roddam had expressed his desire to pursue other interests outside Satyam BPO. We have accepted his resignation and are in the process of making alternate arrangements,” said Satyam Computer Services chief financial officer V Srinivas.

  • The company’s newly appointed chief operating officer (COO) Vijay Rangineni will be in charge during the interim period. Satyam BPO’s CFO M Satyanarayana, it is learnt, is also due to retire.

  • Revenues from Satyam BPO topped Rs 48.97 crore in Q1 of FY 09. “In Q1, we had a loss of animation business in BPO, which led to lower-than-expected growth. Despite this, we delivered a 3% volume growth. We believe that this loss of business was transient, and is limited to Q1,” Satyam Computer Services chairman and founder B Ramalinga Raju had said.

  • Satyam BPO was earlier known as Nipuna. It was the BPO arm of Satyam and functioned as a separate legal entity. Last year, Satyam bought out the external stakeholders of Nipuna and changed the name to Satyam BPO.
