Ernst & Young entrepreneur award

Leading NRI entrepreneur Dr Kartar Lalvani, founder chairman of Britain's nutraceutical major Vitabiotics, has won the 2008 Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year special award for London region.


Dr Lalvani, who had earlier this year bagged the ‘2nd Queen’s Award in Excellence', received the honour at a glittering function at the Grosvenor House in central London on Monday night.


The ceremony was attended by over 500 British and Indian entrepren eurs including Lord Karan Bilimoria, founder of Cobra Beers and Chairman of UK-India Business Council, Lord Chadlington (Huntsworth Plc), Lord Tim Clement-Jones, The Rt Hon, Lord Philip Harris (Carpetright Plc), Professor Ajit Lalvani an eminent scientis t and Lord Young.


Mr Richard Harpin, Chief Executive of Homeserve Plc, a leading home service provider, was judged as the UK Overall Entrepreneur of the Year while Mr Mike Jatania, CEO, Lornamead Acquisitions Ltd, a global personal care company, bagged the retail and cons umer award. Dr Lalvani, a fellow of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society, founded Vitabiotics 35 years ago with a portfolio of UK brand leading supplements, including Pregnacare, Perfectill, Osteocare, Wellman and Wellwoman. He was honoured with Boots Vita min Supplier of the year award in 2005 for fourth year in a row. -
